U.S. President Donald Trump has commented on the results of the midterm elections, congratulating the Democrats on their success. In an interview with Fox News, he said he does not consider the result a personal blow.
“Congratulations to the Democrats. They did a good job. They tried for 11 years and finally succeeded, but I don’t take this as a blow to myself,” the U.S. president said.
Trump praised the first two years of his administration, claiming that the economy and border control have seen extraordinary improvements.
“We’ve had the two most extraordinary years in the history of the presidency, in terms of the economy and everything we’ve accomplished. Look at the border: it was like a sieve, but within two months it was completely closed. I based my campaign on this issue, but that’s a joke compared to what we’ve done, because we’ve secured all these funds around the world.
And if you look at Europe, it’s dying. Look at what’s happening in France, Italy and all these other countries. They’re going through a terrible period. Honestly, they may not survive at all. Meanwhile, we are thriving and we want this to continue. But I congratulate the Democrats,” Trump added.
