Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti did not give a specific answer to reports that Kosovo Police officers lack uniforms and equipment. The shortage of uniforms in the Police was raised on Friday. This happened on the day when more than 300 cadets of the 63rd generation were expected to join the institution.
He was asked about this by journalists after visiting the Institute of Crimes committed during the war in Kosovo. This took place before he headed to the graduation ceremony held this afternoon. Asked about the supply of police officers, Kurti said that the Ministry of Internal Affairs is responsible for providing information about uniforms, equipment and the progress of these processes.
By referring requests for clarification there, he did not provide further details on the state of supplies. However, he stressed that the budget for the Kosovo Police has been continuously increased. He added that state and government care for the police, the army, the officer and the uniform has never been greater than it is now.
“I am now going there, and of course it is a new achievement that over 300 new cadets are being added to the Republic of Kosovo, of whom around 30% are women. As for the supply of equipment and uniforms, it is the Ministry of Internal Affairs that can give the proper answer on how the processes are going, but the budget for the Kosovo Police has been continuously increased and there has never been more state and government care for the police, the army, the officer and the uniform than there is now,” Kurti said in his statement to the media.
He described the addition of over 300 new cadets as an achievement for the Republic of Kosovo. He said that around 30 percent of them are women. According to him, this is a new step for the institution.
The institution is being strengthened with new forces at a time when public attention has also focused on the working conditions of police officers. ## Shortage of uniforms in the Police and the Ministry’s response The graduation ceremony of the 63rd generation of the Kosovo Police will be held this afternoon.
The new cadets are expected to join the ranks of the police there. So far, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has not provided additional clarification on the supply of uniforms and equipment. The Prime Minister has referred journalists’ questions precisely to this institution.
