The Prime Minister of Kosovo and leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Albin Kurti, rejects claims that his political party is involved in organizing or inciting the protests taking place in Albania. Kurti stressed that the party he currently leads is in power and has no role in the protest developments in the Albanian state.
“We are a governing force and we are not a protest force”, Kurti stated, rejecting voices that are trying to attribute the organization of the protests to Vetëvendosje.
He also recalled the period when Vetëvendosje was in opposition and organized protests, saying the party has never hidden behind anonymous organizing.
“Even when we were a protest force, we ourselves led the protests and we never stayed anonymous. We never considered the tactic of throwing the stone and hiding the hand to be worthy”, he said.
In the same appearance, Kurti also conveyed the message that relations between Kosovo and Albania should not be viewed through the lens of political rivalry, stressing that Kosovo is not and will not be a rival of Albania.
