Mundësia Party MP Erald Kapri accuses the police of violating citizens’ constitutional freedoms and rights to protest this Sunday, saying they used force to disperse them with water, Molotov cocktails and drones, endangering the lives of young people as well.
“This is unconstitutional and very serious. Several dozen peaceful protesters who were protesting in front of Edi Rama’s office were pushed onto the sidewalk by the police without any explanation. It is clear that we are in a police state that has decided to suppress the protest. Today the police endangered the protesters’ lives through drones dropping tear gas bombs, and not one but two were brought down. The water cannons were also increased today from 2 to 6, and in addition to the drones, the water and tear gas were used mercilessly,” Kapri told the media.
Despite this, Kapri said, young people turned out en masse in the square again this Saturday, and he warned that the police violence and those who ordered it will face legal consequences. He also stated that the police’s conduct is being carried out on Rama’s orders, which, according to him, aims only to save himself from justice.
