The students’ protest against the “Rama 4” government, following the recent unrest, is expected to enter a new phase of organization. The group “Studentët në protestë” (“Students in Protest”) has announced a change of strategy, deciding that national rallies will be held twice a week. The next protest has been announced for Saturday, November 7, at 14:00, in front of the Ministry of Education.
In a public statement, the students said that from now on national protests will be organized every Wednesday and Saturday, at the same time. According to them, this new form of organization aims to maintain mobilization and ensure continuous participation of students and citizens who support them. Despite the change in strategy, the students stress that they have not changed their position on their main demand: the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
They accuse the government of disregarding their demands during the months of the protest and warn that they will continue their resistance. The student group has also announced that it will support other civic protests against the government, regardless of the date or time they are organized.
“The Albanians’ struggle for democracy continues. Autocracy will fall, just as dictatorship fell,” the students’ statement concludes. The protesters signal that they do not intend to stop mobilizing, but aim to turn it into an organized action twice a week.
