Prime Minister Edi Rama inspected the works on the Tirana Bypass on Friday, a 21-kilometer project aimed at connecting the Tirana-Durrës motorway with the Tirana-Elbasan one, while avoiding passage through the capital.
“21 kilometers of new roads that will connect the main arteries from the outside, to ease Tirana’s traffic,” Rama wrote on Facebook, stressing the importance of this axis for relieving the capital of vehicle flow and improving traffic toward the south and southeast.
Works on the first 10 kilometers have passed the 50% completion level, while financing for the remaining 11 kilometers is expected to be approved through the EBRD within the first quarter of 2027. According to Rama, the Bypass will also create an important link with the Blue Corridor, facilitating movement and shortening travel time.
