Prime Minister Edi Rama has once again stated that he will not resign before the end of his mandate, despite student protests in Tirana. Rama criticized the protesters demanding his departure, accusing some of them of violence and attacks against police.
“My duty has taken me, all these years, to every corner and nook of this country. But amid the infinity of dreams and our reality, I have seen how different Albania is, one that is not represented either by the streets of Tirana, the screens of phones, or even the corrupt television stations.
Everyone in the streets and in Tirana says they want my head, they take pleasure in violence, but I am the obstacle between this Albania and the underdeveloped Albania it left behind.
I am, and will remain, at the head of my duty until the last day of my contract with the Albanian people, and I will not follow the tune of those students who tear up the boulevard and attack the police”, Rama said.
