Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted on the platform X regarding the violent protest in Tirana and the eye injury suffered by 28-year-old Erjon Vishkulli from Elbasan, who has been sent to Italy for specialized treatment.
In his reaction, Rama condemns the violent acts and accuses the instigators of the protest of using demonstrators to provoke clashes. He states that the injury to the young man should serve as an alarm signal about the consequences that violence during protests may bring.
The Prime Minister also stresses that he has personally committed to ensuring the 28-year-old’s treatment at a specialized hospital in Italy, as well as his transport by medical aircraft.
Rama says he is sorry for every person who is injured, regardless of their role in the protest, but adds that in violent situations the risk of injury becomes greater.
He further accuses the organizers and supporters of the protests of politically exploiting the young man’s injury to stir up further tensions.
At the end of his reaction, Rama warns that those responsible for the violence will face the consequences, and states that Albanian citizens will not forget or forgive violent acts and destruction.
