The government has submitted for review in Parliament the draft law on affordable social housing, which also provides financial support for students to pay their rent.
The news was announced by Prime Minister Edi Rama, who stated that the initiative aims to address the housing problem and rising prices, by creating a new approach to help citizens cope with costs.
“We will also pay 50% of the rent for those students who meet the set criteria”, Rama said.
According to the Prime Minister, support for students is foreseen within the framework of the government’s program, while the draft law aims to create new mechanisms to make housing more affordable.
Benefiting from rent subsidies will be conditional on meeting the defined criteria, which will determine the categories of students who may benefit from this scheme.
