Arsenal secured an important away win at Liverpool, beating them 1-0 at Anfield in a Premier League Matchweek 9 fixture.
The hero for the London side was Kai Havertz, who scored the only goal of the match in the 16th minute. The German striker benefited from a cross by Declan Rice, which passed between players in the box before Havertz directed the ball into the net.
After conceding the goal, Liverpool tried to respond, especially in the second half, applying constant pressure in search of an equaliser. However, the hosts faced a well-organised Arsenal defence, which managed to neutralise their efforts until the final whistle.
This win is especially significant for the London club, as it represents their first away victory against Liverpool in the Premier League at Anfield since 12 September 2012.
With this success, Arsenal moves up to 24 points and takes top spot in the English league, also benefiting from Manchester City’s defeat the day before.
