Cristiano Ronaldo Junior has received his first official call-up to the Portugal U-17 national team, taking another important step in his football career.
The son of legendary Cristiano Ronaldo has been included in the 23-player squad announced by coach Filipe Ramos for the European U-17 Championship qualifiers, which will be played during November.
The 16-year-old, who plays in the Al Nassr academy in Saudi Arabia, has so far scored three goals in seven appearances for the club. Meanwhile, with Portugal’s youth teams, he has 13 matches and five goals with the U-15 and U-16 national teams.
Cristianinho will have the chance to make his debut in the Portugal U-17 shirt in a qualifying mini-tournament at the Cidade do Futebol training centre in Oeiras. Portugal will face Andorra, Bulgaria and Serbia, starting on 11 November.
This call-up marks a special moment for the young player, who is following in his father’s footsteps in the world of football. Meanwhile, fans have begun to dream of a historic moment in the future: when Cristiano Ronaldo and his son could share the same pitch as professional footballers, before CR7 brings his career to an end.
