Manuel Neuer expressed his satisfaction after Bayern Munich’s 2-0 win over Atletico Madrid in the decisive round four match of the league phase in the Champions League.
The German goalkeeper praised his team’s performance, stressing that the squad managed to control the match from start to finish, despite recent absences and difficulties.
“We completely controlled the match from the first minute to the 93rd. Whatever Atletico tried, we always had the right answer. We stayed together, gave everything and delivered an outstanding performance as a team,” Neuer declared.
The Bayern goalkeeper stressed that this win is particularly significant, as not everyone believed the Bavarians could get a positive result in such a difficult away trip.
“Not everyone expected this result. Coming to the stadium of such a strong team and winning is not easy at all. Showing this level and responding to the doubts is fantastic,” he added.
Neuer also spoke about the young talent Lennart Karl, the scorer of the first goal, praising his importance for the team and Bayern’s collective spirit.
Meanwhile, Karl himself did not hide his ambition to reach the Champions League final, which will be held in 2027 at the Metropolitano stadium in Madrid.
“We believe in our abilities. The road is difficult, but we have the potential and will do everything to reach the goal,” the German talent said.
