Paris Saint-Germain has begun thinking about the future of its midfield, and on coach Luis Enrique’s wish list is Manchester United talent Kobbie Mainoo.
According to Spanish media outlet “Fichajes”, the French side’s coach considers the 21-year-old Englishman a suitable candidate to take on responsibility in midfield and to be a long-term alternative to Fabián Ruiz.
Despite the interest, there have been no official contacts between the two clubs so far, and no concrete offer for the player’s transfer.
Fabián Ruiz is 30 years old and has a contract with PSG until 2028, with an option to extend it for another season. However, Luis Enrique wants to prepare for the future now, by bringing in a new footballer with potential and experience at the highest levels.
Mainoo meets several of the Spanish coach’s criteria. He has played in the Premier League, has represented the England national team, and stands out for his ability to win back the ball, as well as his contribution to building attacks.
On the other hand, Manchester United are in a favorable negotiating position, as in April 2026 they extended the midfielder’s contract until 30 June 2031. Mainoo had lost ground under Ruben Amorim’s management, but with the arrival of Michael Carrick he has regained more minutes on the pitch.
