The tragic death of Jesús de Miguel has shocked the football world. The Tenerife striker passed away at the age of 30, prompting a wave of condolence messages from clubs, footballers and sports institutions.
UEFA has also joined the tributes to the Spanish footballer. The organisation’s president, Aleksander Ceferin, expressed grief over his loss in an emotional message.
“We are devastated by the death of Jesús de Miguel Alameda. We searched for the right words, but found only silence. In that silence lie our hearts and thoughts, which go out to his family, his teammates, the entire CD Tenerife club and all those mourning this tragic loss,” Ceferin’s message reads.
As a mark of respect for the striker’s memory, UEFA has decided that a minute’s silence will be observed before all European competition matches taking place this week.
