Lamine Yamal continues to write history in European football. The Barcelona talent has surpassed Kylian Mbappé, becoming the teenager with the most goals in Champions League history.
The Catalan forward reached 14 goals in this competition in just 37 appearances, surpassing Mbappé’s previous record of 13 Champions League goals before turning 20.
Yamal’s historic goal came in the seventh minute of the match against Aston Villa at Spotify Camp Nou. After an error by the opposing defence, the 19-year-old took advantage of the opportunity and sent the ball into the net with a beautiful lobbed finish, beating goalkeeper Zion Suzuki.
This finish moved the Barcelona talent to the top of the all-time list of teenage goalscorers in the Champions League.
Mbappé, who had previously held this record with 13 goals before the age of 20, went on to add to his tally and currently has 72 goals in Europe’s most prestigious club competition.
