Albanian Association of Banks appoints the new Chairman
The Assembly of Members of the Albanian Association of Banks held a meeting on February 11, 2015, where elections were held as per its status, for the new Chairman of the Association.
The Assembly elected Mr Christian Canacaris, CEO of Raiffeisen Bank Albania, as Chairman of the Albanian Association of Banks, with a two years mandate. Mr Canacaris replaces in this position Mr Seyhan Pencabligil, CEO of Banka Kombëtare Tregtare.

Mr Canacaris after the voting process thanked the representatives of member banks and Mr Pencapligil for his job during these years, while committed to continue developing good relationship of the AAB with the other actors in the market and bringing new and fresh ideas in leading the banking association.

Mr Christian Canacaris is Chief Executive Officer of Raiffeisen Bank in Albania since October 2010. Mr Canacaris has a long career in treasury and capital markets. He joined Raiffeisen Bank in April 2004 as Board Member for Treasury after some years of experience in Eastern and Central Europe. Mr Canacaris graduated from the University of Paris, Pantheon-Sorbonne with excellent results in Enterprise Finance and Business Law. He also has a master’s degree in Econometrics and Applied Mathematics and Statistics and an MBA from the prestigious British University of Manchester. Mr Canacaris acquired Albanian citizenship last year.
