INSTAT: Exports towards Italy increased while imports have decreased
Albanian Institute of Statistics’ latest report shows that exports increased and imports have decreased speaking about trade exchanges with Italy, by confirming again that Italy remains Albania’s biggest trade partner. Imports of goods from Italy to Albania reached the amount of 131.443 ml ALL during the period of January-October 2014, while during the same period of 2013 imports were calculated at 138.909 ml ALL.
The report published by INSTAT also shows that exports from Albania to Italy increased during 2014 and that trade exchanges with this partner are about 40% of the total trade exchanges. In 2013, exports with Italy were estimated at 93.801 ml ALL for “textiles and shoes” group, while for this group exports reached the amount of 60.465 ml ALL during 2014.
The most imported goods from Italy are the group of textiles and shoes at the amount of 28.506 ml ALL, as well as equipment and machinery for new industries by private enterprises which operate in Albania.
The import of equipment and machinery increased during 2014 by reaching the amount of 22.431 ml ALL, and this according to economy experts, shows the growing interest of businesses for new qualitative machinery, mainly in the textile industry, construction and agro industrial products production sectors. Despite the increase of imports for this group, even exports increased at an amount of 113.270 ml ALL.
