Local Observers, Prosecution must not delay investigation of fictitious lists
The coalition of local observers has published their third interim report on the process of the local elections.
The report draws the attention of the Prosecution to the delays in the investigation of irregularities in the electoral lists, especially in regard to fictitious voters.
The report notes that the leaders of the three main parties are dominating the podiums, completely eclipsing the candidates who are in the race. This means that the citizens are getting little or no information about the leaders they are electing. The report reads:
“The leaders of the parties are dominating the podiums, while the city council candidates remain in the shadow, and are not promoted at all. The citizens have very little information about the future leaders who will draft the policies of their municipalities.”
Meanwhile, seven different non-governmental organizations have already been set up in an election room at the Rogner Hotel. These organizations will coordinate their information and expertise, related to the process of the local elections in 2015.
On Election Day itself, 1000 short-term observers and 60 long-term observers will report on what is happening in the 61 municipalities of the country.
