MFA of Albania, statement on the illegal elections held by pro-Russian separatists in Eastern Ukraine

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs underlines that these elections were held in violation of the Ukrainian Constitution, national laws and international norms. They undermine Ukraine’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and do not comply with the Minsk agreement of 5 September 2014, thus contributing to the escalation of the conflict in Eastern Ukraine.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterates that any solution to the situation in Eastern Ukraine should be based upon respect of Ukraine’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and international law.
