Democratic Party MP Edi Paloka has commented on the protests that have been taking place for three weeks against the government, expressing concern about what he described as attempts by some groups to keep Democrats out of this movement.
He clarified that the protest was initiated by students and is supported by the teachers’ union, which has declared a boycott and strike. He stressed that the students’ call is addressed to all citizens, regardless of political convictions or affiliation.
Paloka rejected claims of cooperation between the Democrats and Prime Minister Edi Rama, pointing to the opposition’s ongoing confrontations with the government. He also recalled cases in which Democratic Party members and MPs faced violence and detentions during protests against the majority.
According to Paloka, efforts to exclude Democrats from the rallies are having the opposite effect, deepening divisions and discouraging civic participation. He claimed that these clashes between participating groups are one of the reasons the number of protesters has declined in recent weeks.
