The mayor of Elbasan municipality, Gledian Llatja, responded to claims raised on social media regarding the intervention and capacities of the fire service during the explosion in the apartment building on the city’s Ring Road.
Llatja stressed that the Elbasan fire service was on the ground and intervened immediately to handle the situation. He clarified that the structure has new, functional vehicles and equipment on full standby, including a fire ladder truck and specialized equipment for emergency interventions.
Referring to footage published on social media, the mayor explained that stabilizing the firefighter’s position during the intervention and operating the fire truck’s pump are two different technical processes.
He clarified that the notice about being positioned to fight the fire does not necessarily mean that the pump has already opened water pressure in the system.
Llatja underlined that the fire service’s vehicles and equipment are fully operational and that the intervention was carried out with the technical capacities this structure has.
