Harry Kane has no dilemma when it comes to choosing between an individual award and the most important trophy for clubs in Europe. The English striker has stated that he would give up the Golden Boot, which he won for the first time in his career, in exchange for triumph in the Champions League with Bayern Munich.
On the eve of the European tie against Atletico Madrid, the 33-year-old spoke about his goals and the importance of collective success in football.
Kane, who became the first Englishman to win the Golden Boot since 2001, after receiving this award emphasized that team trophies remain the main priority.
“Trophies won with the team are the reason we play football. The collective side of this sport is extremely important. Winning the Golden Boot last week was one of the most beautiful emotions of my life and career. But celebrating with my teammates and lifting the Champions League trophy with Bayern would be something extraordinary”, the striker said.
Asked which of the two trophies he would choose if he had to give up one, Kane did not hesitate in his answer.
“I would choose the Champions League. Luckily, I still have the chance to win both trophies, so we’ll see what happens. The Golden Boot is an outstanding achievement and takes you to another level, but the big finals and the emotions shared with the team have a special value”, the Englishman declared.
The striker also spoke about the emotions experienced during the Golden Boot ceremony in London, describing the past week as a period full of emotion.
“It has been a week like a rollercoaster of emotions. The ceremony was one of the most beautiful moments, not only for me but also for the club. It was one of the best feelings I have ever experienced. At the same time, we have also gone through difficult moments and extreme situations, but all of this has brought us even closer together and motivates us to fight for every goal”, Kane concluded.
