Basha “accepts” territorial reform
The head of the opposition, Lulzim Basha said that Rama and Meta failed in fighting crime and that this government is the main responsible for such insecurity in the country. Apparently, Basha now is accepting the new territorial division and is preparing the democrats for the June 21st election process. This was confirmed by him at the EPP Assembly in Brussels.
"The Democratic Party has been and is determined that Albanian citizens are not denied the right to decide for the territorial map. The current map has been, is and will remain unacceptable to the Democratic Party. It does not comply with the interests of the citizens. For this reason, we consider June 21st a referendum, where people will express by vote, their stance not only for the opposition candidates, but also against the territorial division to make way for a process that will not be delayed, and together with Albanian citizens we will decide a territorial map that is favors their interests.
I asked for a complete monitoring of the elections, considering that Rama-Meta government has given proof of fraud and vote purchase on June 23rd and in the elections held in Korca. I was assured that not only the European People's Party but all EU institutions would be fully committed to this major cause as it is the cause of freedom and democracy in Albania, "said Basha.
