The recording of the PM, PM Rama: The meeting was not about stealing votes
There were harsh debates in the plenary session today because of a tape that was made public by the Democratic Party.
According to prime minister Edi Rama, the recording was taken out of context. He clarified that the meeting was with the socialist party, for organizing the work in the local elections, and it does not have to do with stealing votes, as the democratic claim. He said:
“The directors of the administration are present at our meetings because they are part of the socialist party structures. They do not participate in the meetings because they are directors, but because they are part of the socialist party.
We held a meeting about the organization of the elections, not to steal the votes, as the democratic party did”-said the prime minister.
Sali Berisha responded:
“I have not manipulated the recording. I only removed Rama’s face from the video. I have never used private videos, but this one is about the election process, which is a fundamental process. This recording will be sent to every European office that is interested in free elections in Albania. The pre-electoral climate is in a grave condition, and the elections are seriously at risk.’- said Berisha
The prime minister also stated that students will not be used for electoral campaigns, as they were used by the right wing party.
“I give assurance that the time of using students for electoral campaigns is gone. I have given instructions that if a school is closed in order to take students to an electoral campaign, there will be harsh measures. If you see students of the employees of the administration in the electoral campaigns, they will be punished.”-said the pm.
