The head of the PS parliamentary group, Taulant Balla, called on protesting students to elect their representatives and hold dialogue with the government, while announcing that on Thursday the Assembly will vote on an agreement for additional investment in dormitories. “The 2.0 Pact for the university is now. On Thursday we vote in Parliament on an agreement to invest more in dormitories”, Balla said.
He stressed that conditions in dormitories have improved significantly compared with the past, while the damage caused during the protests, according to him, goes beyond investments in university infrastructure. Balla repeated the call for dialogue, emphasizing that the government is ready for talks. “My call is for dialogue. The chairs have been set up here. Everything is ready. Students should elect their representatives”, he said.
Balla also made known that the Assembly will continue its work with an intensive agenda, which includes draft laws related to the negotiation process and that must be approved by the end of the month. Commenting on the clashes during the protests, the head of the PS parliamentary group condemned violence against State Police officers.
”The PS group condemns violence. The essential element here is raising a hand against the State Police”, Balla said. He compared the situation in Albania with the protests in France, claiming that in our country most of the injured are police officers. ”If in France ¾ of the injured are protesters, in Albania 2/3 of those injured are police officers. Police blood is the blood of the state”, he said. In conclusion, Balla warned against using children in protests for political purposes and welcomed the continuation of the learning process in schools as positive news. ”Today’s good news is that classes are being held in all schools”, Balla concluded.
