Prime Minister Edi Rama has published footage from the construction of the tunnels on the Corridor VIII axis, in the Librazhd area. Rama shares images of the progress of works at the site, while stressing the continuation of this important infrastructure project.
“Here are the Corridor VIII tunnels in Librazhd, construction sites that never stop, of a new European Albania that does not stop,” Rama wrote. Corridor VIII is one of the strategic road and rail infrastructure projects, linking Italy, Albania, North Macedonia and Bulgaria, creating an important transport hub in the region.
This corridor connects with other major road networks and with Corridors IV and IX, and has been part of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) since 1 December 2022. The inclusion of Corridor VIII in NATO’s strategic security and transport plans gives Albania an important role in regional connectivity and in the Euro-Atlantic security architecture.
