As the protest has gotten out of control, Sali Berisha accuses the government of state violence against protesters in Tirana, describing the protest as a day of civil disobedience across the entire country.
“Tirana experienced today the day of the most brutal state violence and terror against young students and citizens,” Berisha declared, claiming that protesters faced tear gas and rubber bullets. According to him, dozens of citizens were injured during the clashes.
Berisha said civil disobedience also spread to other cities in the country, such as Shkodra, Durrës, Elbasan, Vlora and Korça, describing the protest as an expression of civic revolt against the government.
“Edi Rama is demanding blood. Edi Rama is demanding victims,” said the leader of the Democratic Party, accusing the prime minister of choosing conflict instead of a political solution.
In conclusion, Berisha called on Rama to resign, warning of the consequences of escalating the situation.
“Resign urgently, do not lead Albania toward a civil conflict,” Berisha declared.
