Democratic Party MP Ervin Salianji accuses Sali Berisha of undermining the protest led by students, saying he is dividing and weakening the Democratic Party for personal interests. He criticized the organization of the protest and challenged Prime Minister Edi Rama to guarantee free and fair elections.
“Berisha is making every effort to disrupt the protest and divide it. He wants it to fade away, but it won’t, because the citizens’ anger will not fade. Today Berisha is the obstacle to bringing down Edi Rama. Even today, when this protest is so massive and energetic, citizens who were not DP voters have been inspired to also remove Berisha as an obstacle to bringing about change. I said I join the demands of the protesters.
The demands are for Rama and Berisha to leave. If Berisha keeps the DP by force, it will be left with only the building. Sali Berisha says Edi Rama has been hit by the oligarchs, while Sali Berisha himself does not speak with the oligarchs.
What advantage does this gentleman have over Edi Rama? Albania loses nothing if Edi Rama leaves; on the contrary, it gains. If Edi Rama says he has popular support, let him go to elections. If he has 800 thousand votes, let him create the conditions for elections and run again. Why is he afraid to go to elections?”, says Salianji.
